As an individual born and raised in Singapore, there has always been a personal struggle to find an identity that is relatable to this country and to one’s self. This personal journey resulted in distinctive conversational pieces that are embodied within Anecdotes.

Anecdotes is a jewellery collection — the physical manifestation of a personal identity inspired by the personal attachment and memories to a place in Singapore. The collection’s versatile aspect provides multiple ways of adorning the jewellery based on an individual’s style against otherwise conventional single function of jewellery. The star motifs throughout the collection is able to rotate according to the wearer’s movements. This interactivity yet playful nature captivates wearers and beholders to develop relationships and memories with each piece to create lasting moments.

The entire collection is inspired by my childhood experiences - ballet lessons at Fort Canning Centre whereby the architectural and ballet elements were combined.

The clasp mechanism was based on the huggie hoop earrings which uses a hinge to open and close the earring. This mechanism was incorporated into the ribbon portion to allow it to be removed when desired; allowing the wearer to customize the necklace to their style and events.

It works as a pendant bail when closed. The bail allows a chain to pass through for wearing and it is designed to be hidden by the ribbon.

Also, the wearer can wear the ribbon portion as a brooch. The lapel pin is designed to be hidden behind the ribbon strand to not distract from the aesthetic of the piece.
